If tortillas are freshly made, let them cool completely. Store-bought tortillas can be frozen in their original packaging if it is well sealed, or transfer to a freezer bag for better protection.
Place a square of parchment paper or wax paper between each tortilla in the stack. This prevents them from freezing into a solid block and allows you to peel off exactly the number you need. Place the interleaved stack in a freezer bag, press out excess air, and seal.
For flour tortillas that will be used for wraps or burritos, you can also fill and wrap burritos completely, wrap each in foil, and freeze. These go directly from freezer to oven or microwave for a grab-and-go meal.
6 to 8 months.
Peel off the number of tortillas you need. Flour tortillas can be microwaved from frozen for 20 to 30 seconds, or heated in a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side. Corn tortillas benefit from a light spritz of water before heating to prevent cracking.
